Today's hymn is "The God of Abraham Praise". As I was reading the words, I was looking at where the writer's name is and it mentioned that this is a revised version of "The Yigdal". Also the tune is from a Hebrew melody, so makes sense why it has such a, if I may say, Jewish sound to it. Really beautiful hymn. In the second verse, there's the line "I all on earth forsake, its wisdom, fame, and power." As being someone who is a bit more in the public eye being on YouTube, this really stuck out to me and is something I want to keep in mind. Not that I'm rich and famous from being on YouTube, but many a person has become such from it and I don't want that to be my ambition. (On a side note, I realized that I accidentally left the video's audio track enabled after I'd already uploaded this video. No one else will probably notice one spot where it creates a little audio glitch; but if you do, my apologies. I just didn't want to re-upload for something I figured no one will probably notice. :-) Lyrics: The God of Abraham praise, Who reigns enthroned above; Ancient of everlasting days, And God of Love; Jehovah, great I AM! By earth and heaven confessed; I bow and bless the sacred Name Forever blest. The God of Abraham praise, At whose supreme command From earth I rise, and seek the joys At His right hand. I all on earth forsake, Its wisdom, fame, and power; And Him my only portion make, My shield and tower. He by Himself hath sworn, I on His oath depend; I shall, on eagles' wings upborne, To heaven ascend; I shall behold His face, I shall His power adore, And sing the wonders of His grace Forevermore. The whole triumphant host Give thanks to God on high; "Hail, Father, Son and Holy Ghost!" They ever cry. Hail, Abraham's God and mine! I join the heavenly lays; All might and majesty are Thine, And endless praise. Amen. Words by: Daniel ben Judah (Revised Version of "The Yigdal" by Thomas Olivers) Music by: From a Hebrew Melody (Arr. by Meyer Leoni)
