Exploring the MTL Purpll: An Annotated Hands-on Demo

In this video, I document my first encounter with the PURPLL by Montreal Assembly. I began the session "going blind"—exploring the device's unpredictable Phase Locked Loop (PLL) architecture without the manual to see what sounds I could find naturally. I use the PURPLL as a standalone drone synth, and as a processor for the Casio VL-1, blending its iconic lo-fi tones with the PURPLL tracking artifacts and harmonic grit. After recording the performance, I did study the manual, and added detailed on-screen captions to this video that identify and explain the main functions of the device as they are being used.
