The Rincon de Loix section of Benidorm is most notably referred to as 'the new town'. It is in this area that many of Benidorm's most popular hotels are located. This section of town caters very well for the British tourist and is often called' the English town'. Did you know that the Spanish call us 'giris' which roughly translated means pink prawn! It is not meant to be offensive and is often said in an affectionate way to describe the Brits who year after year return as they simply love Benidorm! The hotels in the Rincon look after us Brits very well indeed and the local shops will even have some of our favourite products from home. You will find many British bars and cafés located here, so if you're missing your favourite pint from home or are simply pining for a good old English breakfast the new town is the place to find it! You will also find those firm British favourites, Indian and Chinese restaurants dotted all around the Rincon. The Rincon is also home to the famous Benidorm cross. This is located on the top of the hill (which is actually called the Sierra Helada) meaning ice mountain and looks down on the whole of the resort. The cross was erected sometime in the 1950's and was hauled all the way up by the local towns' people to protect Benidorm. If you plan to walk up to the cross and many people do, don't forget your camera, the views are truly breath taking! Benidorm has a very good local bus network and the Rincon area is very well served by buses which can whisk you down the Aveinda Medittereaneo towards the old town in minutes. The number 10 and 12 buses are the ones to look out for. Two of Benidorm's biggest attractions are also located here. Aqualandia, (Water land) and Mundomar, (SeaWorld). These are great places to take the whole family, the children will love them! Aqualandia is huge and offers every conceivable water ride that exists, what better way to spend a day in the sun, in the water having fun! Mundomar has dolphins, whales and a whole host of shows to keep everyone thrilled and entertained! Take the road opposite the Benidorm Palace which is clearly sign posted. Benidorm's famous 'indoor market' is also located here and is a great example of Spanish and British shopping integration. Inside you will find anything from a Spanish butcher to a British beauty salon, fashion outlets and a bakery! It's all there! Benidorm's famous outdoor market is also here, this takes place every Wednesday and Sunday. This is a huge market and there are many bargains to be found, especially leather products and shoes!
