A great guitar with most of the features modern metal players want and a few strange design choices. ---------- Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/HighZ?sub_c... Yes if the specs are what you need/like 09:17 Importance of feel and playability 10:22 Shouldn’t make body fit to the instrument 10:45 Outro and cat This is a guitar I really wanted to like. It’s a great instrument! I had a resonant mahogany body, epic trem system, and smooth ebony fretboard. The stock pickups don’t sound half bad either and I find they’re very usable. The guitar looks metal yet classy and while it has some heft, is manageable to play standing up for a set. While the nickel frets are a disappointment, my main issue with the guitar is the neck profile. For my hands, a completely flat neck profile causes pain. Throughout the years I’ve played many Ibanez guitars all with slightly different neck profiles. I find I gravitate towards the ones that ended up having less shoulder on their neck profiles. This guitar’s neck feels completely flat in the middle. Couple that with the added width of a 7 string neck and this quickly yields an inflamed hand and recording sessions cut short. While some may prefer this neck profile, it just isn’t for me. So if you’re a fan of the flatter neck profile, could tolerate the nickel frets and maybe a pickup swap, and want a 7 string floating tremolo bridge, this guitar is rock solid and will serve you well.
