'Phenomenal effort' by Chinese journalists to uncover extent of communist censorship
Sky News host Paul Murray says while “there has been a phenomenal effort in China to kill off the truth,” some Chinese media organisations continue to “try to work out what really happened”. The Australian reported on a mandarin podcast indicating they “had reached 75 to 80 percent (of the truth) and what has been published was around 30 to 40 percent” of the truth. The same podcast also said the “President of Wuhan’s Central South Hospital was told by provincial leaders to keep in mind ‘political’ considerations when speaking to a team from the World Health Organisation”. Mr Murray said it was “good that someone was trying to do some shoe leather reporting in a country where to do so could see the end of your life".
