Part 1 of my greatest American boxers, full list available on Instagram - @danmorleyboxing The way I intend to go about rankings, is prioritising things like how untouchable they were at their best, the level of resume they built, the levels of their achievements, how ahead they were relative to their own era, how many times they triumphed whilst pushing themselves in challenging fights, longevity, primed great opponents etc, impact on sport etc.. these lists are not who would beat who, or who was the best hypothetically - more so a well rounded look up of all these things amongst others. Era’s are so different, some greats had to fight 100’s of times, others less the 50.. some over 20-40 rounds, others 12.. some completely broke after 100+ fights already banked, with no other way of earning money, others earning extremely well from the debut - some, had to overcome oppression others couldn’t ever imagine!
