Demonstration of how to work traditional mattress stitch seam in knitting without losing wales/columns of stitches in the seam allowance. This method involves using vertical lifelines to catch the "turning yarn" at the ends of each row. The result is not quite as sturdy as traditional mattress stitch, but there is less bulk at the seam and you do not need to calculate extra wales if the fabric has patterning.
