Welcome to our chapter: "The value of dispatchable solar power". In this video we summarize results of an energy scenario analysis using a multi-criteria approach in the region Europe, Middle East and North Africa – the EUMENA region. Hereby an energy system model with basic technological and economic assumptions is used to compare an energy system with and without a transfer of dispatchable solar power from the Middle East and North Africa to Europe. Different shares of a transfer of dispatchable solar power reveal its value for the energy system. The modelling of a transfer of dispatchable solar power has rather conservative assumptions which enables scrutiny and therefore robust showing positive results. One result of the energy scenario analysis including a transfer of dispatchable solar power is higher diversity with higher degree of freedom and options for action.
