GENESIS - No Son Of Mine (drums by Jouxplan)

I have to admit right at the start that this is not a drum cover that I had ever intended to do! I don't know this one very well, and, to be honest, it is not one of my favorite Genesis tracks. Having said all that, there is a very good reason why I have tried to play this. One of my subscribers, 'Matt' wrote to me during my copyright problems back in January. He wrote such a moving letter, saying how devastated he would be if my account got closed down, that I promised him I would cover 'No Son Of Mine' (his personal favorite) if my account stayed intact. So, here we are, some 6 months later. I couldn't put it off any longer! Matt has been messaging me regularly, asking when I would be uploading this cover; and I have never quite got around to it. Let me say that I found this very difficult to memorise. I found that Chester's fills are all very similar, and I found it hard to work out where I was in the song. I guess that's 'cos the vocal part is also very similar, in a way. I ended up resorting to writing out some of the key lyrics, and writing out the appropriate drum part / fill to match! If you look carefully you will see the paper flapping about below my 4th tom! In essence, I think I got this about right. But the detail is not spot on, particularly some of the fills. Matt, I apologise. I also miss some of the crashes - infuriating! Hope you like the opening 'tick tock' sounds - partly I did this to entertain myself and you lot, but also to try and avoid a potential copyright issue - I don't want the audio track to sound too much like ther original. This is taken from the 2007 'When In Rome' DVD. If you have not seen it, it is a must. Finally - I can say something I have never said before on any of my other videos on YouTube - the background track is actually too LOUD!!! Yes! I mean, do you really think I have reverb on my snare? Ho! Ho! Ho!
