'NYPD Blue' (1993) was created by Steven Bochco and David Milch; Milch brought in Bill Clark, an ex New York cop, as one of the show's producers. Running for 12 seasons 'Blue' was highly regarded for its unflinching realism and was the recipient of multiple awards, including 20 Emmys and several entries in TV Guide's '100 Greatest Episodes of All Time'. Of the dozens of leading characters who appeared on the show, only Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) was a main player for all 12 seasons; he was also the only actor to appear in every episode. This New York-centric series was mostly shot in L.A., using sets built for 'Hello, Dolly!' The theme, an instrumental by Mike Post, stayed the same through the entire run. Besides different faces from year to year, the main thing that changed about the opening was the show's move in 2000 from a 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9. But it had been filmed in widescreen from the start and is seen that way on streaming services. 0:00 Opening titles, season one. 1:03 Opening titles, season seven. 2:06 Opening titles, season 12. 3:09 End credits, season 12.
