Neighbours Bloom By Chris Perez, with assistance by Ian Gabriel This mural celebrates the vibrant spirit of Cabbagetown through the delicate harmony of florals and butterflies. It reflects the neighbourhood’s connection to nature, transformation, history, and community. Each flower and pollinator represents diversity, beauty, and the quiet magic found in everyday moments. About the Artist Chris Perez is a Canadian-based Filipino artist practicing in abstract painting and mural art. Perez pushes moments of arbitrary movement to create an inner dialogue with material and environment, like that of an abstract dance with painting. His influences are derived from street art, graffiti, murals, abstract art, and expressionist painting. The Laneway Project transforms Toronto's laneways into vibrant, resilient public spaces. Through community partnerships, an innovative co-design process, and data-led advocacy, we create greener, safer, and more connected neighbourhoods — making our city healthier, more inclusive, and climate-ready. This mural was commissioned by The Laneway Project and funded through Ward 13 Participatory Budgeting Process.
