Birds of the World Discovery | The Cornell Lab of Ornithology | https://birdsoftheworld.org Birds of the World is the world's leading academic digital platform featuring bird life histories and data resources for every bird in the world. This global ornithological resource drives scientific research, education and biodiversity conservation around the world. Storm-petrels are among the least known species of seabirds, mainly due to their cryptic and nocturnal habits. However, knowledge of several species has been expanding thanks to the growing interest of researchers as well as technological advances to locate colonies, track birds at sea and study their general ecology. In this webinar, FERNANDO MEDRANO MARTINEZ, deputy director of the Chilean NGO Red de Observadores de Aves y Vida Silvestre de Chile, will present an overview of what is known and still unknown about the world's petrels. More recently, he developed his PhD at the University of Barcelona where he worked with several species of storm petrels on Guadalupe Island (Mexico), Cape Verde and the Canary Islands.
