Natalie Bettendorf, already an accomplished journalist at the age of 18, explains why she believes youth journalism is an important vehicle to making young people's voices heard. She shares a few of the pieces aired on NPR's "All Things Considered" and Youth Radio and provides some ways in which youths can apply aspects of journalism into their daily lives. Natalie Bettendorf, a senior at Berkeley High School, is the managing editor on the award-winning Berkeley High Jacket and works at Youth Radio. She has been featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" and appeared as a guest on KQED Newsroom. Additionally, she is a member of the Alliance of Climate Education and runs a blog on Medium.com. Natalie plans to attend college in the fall to study journalism and film. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
