Aerial view by Phantom 3 Sandy Beach County Park is located on the Sacramento River just south of Rio Vista. Open year-round, the park offers a 24-hour boat launch, campsites, picnic grounds, and a sand beach (swimming is not allowed due to strong currents and sudden drop-offs, no lifeguard on duty). The campground includes picnic tables, barbecue pits, hot showers, flush toilets and an RV dump station. Each of the 42 individual campsites has hook-ups for electricity and water. A camp host and park resident are on site to assist you so that your visit is enjoyable. Firewood is available for purchase. Dogs on leash are welcome in the campground (only). The picnic area is equipped with tables, barbecue grills, sand volleyball court and a horseshoe pitch. Visitors enjoy playing along the beach and viewing the Delta. Picnic tables are first come / first-served. Whether from the shoreline or off the side of a boat, fishing for catfish, sturgeon or striped bass is very popular along 1,000 miles of Delta waterways. Other recreational activities enjoyed at the park are jet skiing, pleasure boating, wind surfing, sailing and sunbathing on the beach.
