Much like in macro photography, Ray uses close focusing techniques to create drama and a dynamic quality to his images. Using a Canon 16mm-35mm f/2.8 L series wide angle lens he is able to gather in a large amount of scenery while highlighting just a few individual flowers. The perspective is unique and encourages the viewer to look around the entire photograph. Though a country setting is preferred for this type of photography, this time Ray finds himself in an urban setting with all of the challenges that are involved with using a wide angle lens with lots of depth of field. It's a photo project worth trying as results can be totally different from what is usually seen in flower photography.
