I have been dying to try a “Deconstructed Blooms” (or in this case a Deconstructed Bloom since I only did one) inspired by Karen Durishin @Waterfall Acrylics. Since I finally busted up and bought the Australian Floetrol, today is the day I'm going to give it a go!! However I don't have all the 'fancy' stuff that the typical bloom recipe calls for, so I'm just going to use what I have on hand and see what happens. For those of you familiar with the Bloom Technique, you know that you need to put a pillow down which is usually house paint, well instead I just thickened up my acrylic paints that are mixed with plain old generic pouring medium. My colors are just my regular Amsterdam acrylics and again just using my pouring medium and then of course the cell activators mixed with Aussie Floetrol. As I was editing the video I decided that I want to turn this into a series so that I can document my process and hopefully inspire someone ..... ANYONE ..... who feels intimidated to try, that its okay to just start with what you have! So please make sure to subscribe and turn on your notifications so that you now when the next video drops! So let me know what you think in the comments below and any feedback and tips are always welcome, lets learn together! In case you didn't watch the video to the end with the link to Karen Durishin's channel, here is the link / waterfallacrylics so you can check her out as she is the master of this technique!!!!! Some Tiffany Tips: 1) Mix enough pillow paint so you don't have to compromise the composition by having to over stretch the paint to cover the canvas 2) Be careful when blowing out the center as the paint becomes very shallow and could role on top of the other colors when you tilt (I don't have an area large enough to spin, maybe that would work better?) 3) Make sure you paints are thick enough 4) Never be afraid to try new technique, you could just make something beautiful! As always, my paints are all Amsterdam Acrylics Standard Series mixed with some inexpensive pouring medium (no water added) and I mixed it to the right consistency which for this style of acrylic pouring I'm still trying to figure out ;) Description of colors used: Base Coat Titanium White https://amzn.to/3UKE63o Puddle Colors Deep Gold https://amzn.to/3DWQlmX mixed with Van Dijk Brown https://amzn.to/3thv3eQ Karmijn https://amzn.to/3teYnCv mixed with Winsor Newton Iridescent medium https://amzn.to/3UKXnlh Venetian Rose https://amzn.to/3fPbNlI mixed with Light Gold https://amzn.to/3G2s80Y to make a 'Rose Gold' (fancy huh?)
