This week we have chosen a hop-jig, a 9/8 dance tune from the Irish tradition which we originally learnt from a beautiful recording by fiddle and banjo player John Carty. We looked at hop-jigs a couple of years ago in our regular classes, you might remember Lus Na mBanríon (The Dusty Miller) and the Promenade. You'll also maybe recognise Cuckanandy, which we've paired with this new tune to make a set. We focus on the new tune in the video, but dots are available for both. Interestingly we've recently realised that you can dance a six step Ridée (see Week 3) to a hop-jig melody. If you would like to contribute towards the time taken making this video then you can do so via this link https://www.paypal.me/TunelinkSW no obligation though.
