02/24/18 Saturday 3p Race 6 Row 6 C SSr 50+ 90 minute race Marysville, CA @ MMX Facility I finished 3/26 in my class and 37/107 in Race 6 overall. As always my goals are to finish the race, to not crash, and to be courteous to my fellow riders. Regardless whether I finish first or last, I will have ridden as fast as I considered prudent for the conditions and my skill set. I usually start slow and build as the race progresses and try to have my fastest lap times in the last half of the race. The camera I use is an ISAW Extreme at 1080 HD and 60 fps. The camera has held up well, has good battery life, comes with a lot of accessories and apps and even wifi. You can go to the website and get the entire setup for $90 in the clearance section. It is a great deal for a part time camera user. I use VSDC Pro Video Editor to create the video. There is a free version that works well but you can get the Pro version for only $20 and it is worth the price. I have used the GoPro editor and the Windows Movie Maker and they are easy to use but they don't have the speed or conversion quality as the VSDC Pro. The video loses some resolution when it gets formatted and uploaded to YouTube but I always have the HD version on my home pc. I am going to list all of my bike details and settings below in case it helps someone else get their bike set up better. For my suspension settings, first and foremost I want my bike to go straight if I hit a big bump or hole or ledge or rock at speed that I never see. I don't ever want either end to kick up or sideways. Second priority is comfort for the long haul. I am typically racing from 1.5 to 6 hour races so I am willing to sacrifice some bottoming resistance and roll over jumps and ledges so I can have the plush feel that keeps my arms and legs from getting tired on those long rides. I can and do adjust my compression on my right fork leg on my AER 48 forks during races to match the terrain. I will add a couple clicks if I am entering a long mx section or sand wash and then will adjust it back when I get back in to single track, rocks, etc. Thanks for watching. Ask me about any parts listed above. I have chosen each one personally for their functionality. Nothing is on the bike that doesn't make it better for me. My bars/grips/suspension settings/stabilizer/frame guards/etc. all work together as a unit to eliminate any hand or arm pump issues and allow me to conserve as much energy as possible so I can ride faster, safer, and for longer periods of time. With this setup I never get arm pump or tired, sore hands.
