Duʿāʾ is one of the greatest acts of worship — but it also has limits, conditions, and etiquette. In this important reminder, Belal Assaad explains what it means to transgress in duʿāʾ — crossing Allah’s boundaries in how we ask, what we ask for, and the attitude we bring when calling upon Him. Transgressing in duʿāʾ does not mean making mistakes unintentionally. It means asking in ways that conflict with Allah’s wisdom, laws, or the humility duʿāʾ requires. The lecture outlines 11 common forms of transgression, including: Asking for the impossible or supernatural Asking against Allah’s laws and final decrees Requesting things Allah has reserved for others Making duʿāʾ for ḥarām outcomes or sinful relationships Raising the voice excessively or turning duʿāʾ into performance Crying or wailing in objection to Allah’s decree Making conditions on Allah (“If You don’t give me this…”) Turning duʿāʾ into a lecture or emotional storytelling Overloading duʿāʾ with unnecessary detail Listing Allah’s Names mechanically without prophetic guidance Making duʿāʾ excessively long when leading others Belal Assaad then explains how duʿāʾ should be made: Short, sincere, humble, and focused on Allah’s pleasure, Paradise, and protection from the Fire — without exaggeration, pressure, or show. The lecture highlights the best times for duʿāʾ, including: The last third of the night During sujūd Between adhān and iqāmah Specific moments on Fridays Times of hardship: oppression, travel, illness, serving parents, and doing good deeds A powerful example is shared of a righteous man whose duʿāʾ was accepted because he chose to care for his sick mother instead of pursuing personal honor — showing that obedience strengthens duʿāʾ more than words. The reminder concludes with a deep principle: ✔️ Complain to Allah — not about Allah This is known as shakwā ilā Allah and ṣabr jamīl — beautiful patience. Many prophets made duʿāʾ indirectly, humbly acknowledging need without demanding outcomes. Belal Assaad also clarifies that unanswered duʿāʾ is not rejection. Allah responds in the best way — by changing circumstances, removing harm, rewarding in the Hereafter, or ending suffering entirely. Worldly pain is temporary. The Hereafter is permanent. #BelalAssaad #Dua #Supplication #IslamicReminder #IslamicLecture #DuaMistakes #TransgressingInDua #AnsweredDua #IslamicEtiquette #FaithAndPatience #Tawakkul #Qadr #SpiritualDiscipline #IslamicKnowledge #Sunnah
