On Thursday, Rep. Al Green of Texas was censured for disrupting President Donald Trump's address to Congress Tuesday night. After shouting "you have no mandate" at the president and refusing to be seated, Green was removed from the House chamber during the address. Green said that his removal was “worth it to let people know that there are some of us who are going to stand up” to the president’s proposed cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. The vote to censure him was 224-198, largely falling along party lines. Dozens of House Democrats rallied around Green, standing beside him on the chamber floor and sang a rendition of "We Shall Overcome,” while House Speaker Mike Johnson tried to bring the House to order several times. Lisa Desjardins breaks down the censure process and the events that unfolded. Watch PBS News for daily, breaking and live news, plus special coverage.
