This has been one of my favorite works of music since I first heard it in my last year at McGill. Ravel's writing is gorgeous, transparent, and just has REALLY TASTY harmonies. Because of COVID19, my final graduating recital from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music has been cancelled, and it's been a long time since I've been able to play in an ensemble. I've missed it immeasurably, and the cancellation of what was supposed to be the culmination and celebration of my studies weighed on me heavily. However, I am grateful for the efforts of everyone around me to make the best of the situation, and I wanted to still honor this occasion. This is the product of the past month's efforts of transcribing, arranging, practicing all four parts, audio recording, and video editing!
