In 1977 The Spy Who Loved Me featured Bonds most stunning car chase to date when his Lotus Esprit S1 leapt off the end of a pier into the sea and turned into a submarine. For its time this was a really advanced set of special effects (remember this was well before CGI was even thought of) and took a number of cars to make the scenes come alive on the cinema screen. To make wheel arches turn into fins, a small periscope appear on the roof and its weaponry which included a missile launcher, mines, sprayed black dye, and torpedoes shot from the front grille, needed several modified cars to make the magic happen.
