Welcome to Day 53 in Africa, we are in Nigeria, Calabar in a beautiful shared house found on google maps called the Drill Ranch! When arriving late last night it was pitch dark, we just parked the bike, removed the bags, and passed out. Morning was quite unique as in the Drill Ranch they have over 100 replaced monkeys of different species and different backgrounds. Some of them has been kept us pets, some of them have been saved from turning into "bush meat" that is regularly SOLD BY THE SIDES OF THE ROAD ILLEAGLY...! It's a Huge Problem, that could lead some of the rarest primates extinct. Drill ranch was made to keep confiscated Primates/Monkeys until they are ready to be release back in the wild where they truly belong, but There was no chance of interaction with these monkeys as it's not good for them see people as friends. Some like to take advantage of that.. Meanwhile also trying to figure out today's and future route plans, as it's Saturday, all the embassies are closed until Monday, and we heard it's some Religious holiday's on Monday and Tuesday , so everything is closed till WEDNESDAY! And our idea was to visit Guinea Equatorial embassy here in Calabar. We got back on the road, stopped at the closed Guinea Equatorial embassy, where Daniel found the security guard drunk or high on something behind the building talking nonsense wasted, afterwards we filled up our tank enough to make it towards Port Harcourt as Eddy and Hard Ridarz are welcoming us to come back and re-plan our route there! Dan was following Google Maps route as always, and everything was riding smoothly out of Calabar until one Checkpoint stopped us on the main road and recommended us to turn back drive 5 minutes and turn right for a shortcut as they found out were going to Port Harcourt. Daniel check's the maps and see's that he can take that shorter route, but we clearly asked how is the road quality there as its been HEAVY RAINING FOR 13 hours and it's partially flooding some places, so going on bad roads or OFF- Road today is a bad day.... Checkpoint convinced us it's not so bad and it's faster for us so we turned back and followed that route! After making the turn right we directly got the feeling it was a bad idea as we only the mud , mud and everywhere slippy slimey mud with small socks on tar! 1 Minute Later while driving about 40-50 km/h on that bad road, a huge truck was trying to overtake us on the left and splashing wet mud on us all over as he was so near to us and Daniel decided to slowly speed up to overtake and not get pushed off the road on the right. As soon as he slightly accelerated , we lost the grip directly on our back recently changed street tire, and lost control , smashed hardly to the ground and were lucky not to be run over by the truck, the bike missed the truck by about 10-15cm, it was close to being totally run over. Locals surrounded us quickly and provided help moving and picking up the bike, and helping us to get back on our feet. Hurt like hell. Other provided bucket water to help us get cleaned from the mud , very positive people around even though we crashed! Offered us to stay longer but we had to hit the road! There is nothing else just get up and continue! So we did. At the start road was easy, with all the heavy rain in the region, road reconstruction was put on hold and roads were left with deep mud and puddles.. .. When we finally did that we were so happy, but yet again we got another surprise .. our trusty google maps send us to highway in middle of nowhere. It was getting dark very fast and we were lost! Found some locals asked for directions, and kept driving fast through heavy mud, puddles , forests for an hour in the dark until we finally got to tar road! When we got to the city the 'hell' started. it was an rush hour. 1km stand still, cursing, beeping, and flipping. People are crazy in this traffic! It teaches You that everyone is on his own, and big car owners are the "king's' as they don't feel the damage they give other vehicles... Rough ride. Got back at the hotel around 22;00, hot shower, food, asses injuries and sleep! 👉Follow our Adventure from Spain to South Africa by Motorcycle ✅ https://bit.ly/3WwFkQt ✅ Be a Member & get Powers! 👉https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWJr... ❤️ Support our Adventure! 💰 👉 https://paypal.me/Jaagerdan 👍 Make sure to LIKE , SUBSCRIBE , COMMENT Pretty Please! ✅ ❤️Kisses & Regards ❤️ Mimi & Dan ❤️ PLEASE HELP SUPPORT OUR TRAVEL ADVENTURES IN AFRICA - / ridewithmimi WWW.RIDEWITHMIMI.COM 🙌 📸INSTAGRAM / ride.with.mimi 📸 TWITTER / ridewithmimi REDDIT / ridewithmimi 📘 Facebook 📘 / ridewithmimi 📘 📘 / daniel.vezis 📘 contact@ridewithmimi.com #travelvlog #nigeria #calabar
