Highlights from the opening two nights of another brilliant Hull Fair. You’d be forgiven for thinking that Hull Fair 2023 wouldn’t be as good as the previous years if you looked at the ride line-up on paper. A lot of the big attractions chose to do Nottingham Goose Fair this year, and with Hull not even having a major Starflyer (the Goose fair had two!) it looked like this year’s fair wouldn’t be the best. But Hull just has a special atmosphere, something that Nottingham can’t create even if it does have the better ride line-up. Walton Street is an amazing spectacle on Hull fair night and the buzz it gives off is completely unrivalled. And that’s why Hull Fair will always beat the Goose fair. For me anyway. We filmed this on the opening Friday and Saturday night (before the Sunday change over with the Goose fair, hence why rides such as Atmosfear aren’t included) and it was absolutely rammed. I really hope the council opens Hull Fair 2024 for longer, and at least one of the two Sundays to space the crowds out a bit more as the queues for rides can get very long. That being said, the crowds do give Hull the special buzz I mentioned earlier. We only did a couple of rides this year. You don’t need to do many to have a good time. It’s just a great place to hang out and eat some great food. The best ride was by far King Loops. It’s just crazy. I managed to take one of my friends on this for their first ride and just spent the entire time laughing at the absolute carnage that they call a ride. You can’t see anything, you don’t know where you are, you senses just get completely overloaded and it’s honestly brilliant. Air was unfortunately a little disappointing. Make no mistake it’s still a brilliant ride. But ever since it went in for repair it just seems a bit slower than it used to be. It could well be a result from the work it had done, but it just seems to have lost a step. We had two great nights and are already looking forward to next year’s fair.
