Compared to the A320ceo Airbus has improved fuel consumption with the use of Sharklets and a greater fan diameter which almost double the bypass rate from 6.00:1 to 11.00:1. According to Airbus the A320neo burns up to 15 percent less fuel. Neo options are available for A319, A320 and A321. With launching the A321neo cabin flex by removing the pair of doors at the leading edge of the wing and cabin improvements Airbus can fit up to 240 passengers into the A321 compared to 220 before. A new center fuel tank in the belly of the A321LR increases range to 4000NM with 206 passengers on board. Plannings for an even further improvement of the A321LR are made, called A321XLR - eXtra Long Range to compete with Boeings new middle of the market aircraft called 797 which will replace the 757s.
