We spent two unforgettable days in Alleppey, Kerala, and it was nothing like we expected. From a peaceful 5-hour boat ride through the narrow backwater canals, to exploring quiet village life on foot, this trip gave us a completely different view of Kerala. We started with a slow cruise through the Alleppey backwaters, passing palm-lined canals, local homes, and friendly villagers waving from the shore. After sunset at our riverside hotel, we walked the island the next morning, meeting locals and soaking in the slow rhythm of daily life. After a short road trip inland, we returned to Alleppey Beach just in time for another perfect sunset — a beautiful end to our time in one of South India’s most iconic destinations. This is the real Alleppey — beyond the houseboats and tourist crowds.
