Banked Bakony is an annual snowboard gathering for all the passionate riders, film makers, family and friends globally to carve in the deep banks and cruise in the crazy lines of the trough. It is a classic "non-competitive" competition, where legends are not only born on the mountain, but also grab the shovel, raise the glass in the bar or play some music for the fans! Banked Bakony 2023 was a real blast, attracting 115 participants from five countries, such as Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium and Hungary. This unique and most traditional discipline of snowboarding, the ‘Banked Slalom’ is becoming more and more popular that represents openness and invites riders regardless of ages, genders and snowboarding skills. In Eplény, Hungary the youngest competitor was only nine years old and the wisest was just over sixty. They were all competing at the same course where the banks were showing similar characteristics like surfing. The flow was great and the vibes were awesome, everyone had a big smile on their faces after the runs. The race was super tight. There was not even 20 hundredths of seconds that separated the first from the third in the Elite Men category. The fastest rider of the day became Botond FRICZ, who defended his championship from last year and just beat the German olympic snowboarder Leon GÜTL and the Austrian Alex TAFERNER. The day did not end with the award ceremony, since there was an ‘Apres Ski’ party that crowned the event and celebrated the pure beauty of our beloved sport and experience some real 'Eastern vibes' in the heart of Bakony, Hungary.
