Fostering thoughtfulness and becoming better human beings is Steve Ashton's wish for his growing company. For Steve, fostering thoughtfulness means taking the time to think, to reflect, to process, to plan and to prepare yourself for the day to come. In this episode of Monday Meet-ups, Steve describes his "Morning Miracle" a process for waking up, getting his day organized and making sure that he allocates his time according to his priorities. He places his goals into one of five boxes: Personal. Family. Community. Work and Sleep. Using his insights as a thoughtful person who relies on Peer Networking and Mentorship relationships, Steve remembers the colleague who told him to "Pick out the good things from everyone you meet and combine those things. This will make you a stronger boss and better leader of your company." Steve uses his self-reflection practice as a discipline and as a strategy for being a high functioning human being who knows about the importance of having tough talks. Dealing with people's money and their dreams the way a construction company must do, means that there are times when not everything is going according to plan. Having a strong network of supporters and professionals that he can call on means that he can manage his emotions more carefully. With good self-care practices, commitment to good communications and the company's core values, Steve Ashton wants his staff, team, and friends in community to thrive and be happy. Steve also tries to extend an extra dose of self-compassion and grace in the face of set-backs and disappointments - because after all, we are only human, trying to do the best we can. #wordsmatter #leadershipmatters #everydayleadership #grassrootsgratitude
