PCA 2025: Plasencia Cigars Unveils "Alma Del Cielo"

We had the privilege of attending the highly anticipated unveiling of Plasencia Cigars’ newest release, "Alma Del Cielo", at their booth. According to Plasencia Cigars this is "The world’s highest elevation cigar, grown at a breathtaking 1,300 meters above sea level within the most cherished Plasencia family estate; Finca San Julián in Condega." The invite-only event began with flowing champagne, elegant hors d'oeuvres, and, of course, the first tastes of the new "Alma Del Cielo" cigars. Plasencia CEO Jim Young kicked things off with a warm welcome before introducing Nestor A. Plasencia. Nestor shared the heartfelt story behind the cigar—crafted with tobacco grown at the San Julián farm, located 3,000 feet above sea level. Once owned by the Plasencia family, the farm was sold during a time of financial hardship, only to be repurchased 20 years later by Nestor’s father and gifted back to his mother. According to Nestor, "Alma Del Cielo" is more than a cigar—it’s a true labor of love. The "Alma del Cielo" flavor journey opens with a rich, creamy sweetness of marzipan and honey, accented by subtle hints of nougat. As the cigar evolves, earthy undertones weave through, accompanied by delicate traces of orange zest. The heart of the smoke unveils warm cedar and more nougat, while the finish delivers a harmonious crescendo, with a refined touch of ginger spice that lingers gently.
