His dedication to this nuanced string instrument has cemented his place as a prominent figure in the country's music arena. ​ ​Abir's mastery is built upon a strong foundation of formal education and rigorous mentorship. He pursued both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Esraj at the prestigious Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, India. ​Crucially, his musical journey included receiving talim, from the revered esraj maestro, Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta. This lineage has undoubtedly shaped the depth and quality of his musicianship. ​Beyond his performance career, Ashikul Abir contributes to the cultural sector in Bangladesh. He currently holds the position of Assistant Director in the Music Department at the Shilpakala Academy, the principal national arts and culture institution of Bangladesh. ​Abir's artistry has earned high praise from connoisseurs of music. His solo recitals and project works are a frequent and appreciated presence, showcasing the distinctive sound of the Esraj across the Bangladeshi music landscape.
