Please Follow Chu Here: https://www.instagram.com/chuortrue/?... In this episode, Chu from ChuOrTrue takes me to Supawan Thai near King’s Cross — a spot famous for seriously authentic Southern Thai cooking. The restaurant is run by chef-owner Wichet Khongphoon, who’s originally from Phuket and brings proper southern flavours to London. Before becoming a restaurateur, he even ran the florist next door — which explains why the private dining room we ate in was absolutely FULL of beautiful flowers. And honestly… the food did not disappoint. What we ate: 🔥 Pad Sataw Goong - Pr awns with stink beans 🔥 Gaeng Hed Klaeng – Southern curry with prawns & splitgill mushrooms 🔥 Moo Hong (Phuket-style braised pork belly) 🔥 Bai Liang Pad Kai - Egg with Malinjo Leaves 🔥 Yum Dok Dara Goong Sod - torch ginger flower salad That last dish was fascinating; Dok Dara is torch ginger flower (Etlingera elatior), a fragrant edible flower used in Southern Thai cooking that gives the salad a fresh, citrusy, slightly gingery kick. From bold southern curries to proper Phuket comfort food, this place is the real deal. Massive respect to Khun Wichet for flying the flag for authentic Thai food in London. 🙌 If you love discovering regional Thai dishes you don’t usually see on menus… this one’s for you. 📍 Restaurant: Supawan Thai, King’s Cross, London https://maps.app.goo.gl/h9NTxVKepLcdh... 🇹🇭 Cuisine: Southern Thai 👍 Don’t forget to like & subscribe for more proper food adventures around the world! ⸻ #theroamingcook #thaifood #southernthaifood #londonfood #supawanthai #thaifoodlondon #phuketfood #thaistreetfood #garybutler #chuortrue If you’d like to support my little channel: Straight to Bank (no fees): https://monzo.me/garymarkbutler Paypal: https://paypal.me/theroamingcook https://www.buymeacoffee.com/garybutler Get a t-shirt here: https://my-store-c4478c.creator-sprin... I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have! If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
