Berney Arms (BYA) railway station in Norfolk, England (Great Britain) is one of the most remote stations in the county with access only possible by foot/walking with the nearest public accessible road being around 2 miles aways with closer roads requiring a boat to cross the river Yare. Berney Arms is located on the Wherry lines linking Norwich with Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, with BYA being on a limited use section between Reedham and Great Yarmouth. This station also has one of the shortest platforms in England which has a useable length of around 18 metres with the class 755 trains serving the station opening only 1 single door when stopping at this station. While this is one of the shortest platforms in England Great Britain has shorter platforms in the Scotland Highlands with Conon Bridge and Beauly both having platforms of around 1 metre shorter at around 15 metres long and Gilfach Fargoed in Wales having a 16 metre platform. The station at Berney Arms station has a single platform on a single track line. Services from Berney Arms are limited with 4 trains a day (Monday to Saturday) and 10 train a day on Sunday (as of the May 2025 timetable change). Services are split evenly with departures to Norwich and Great Yarmouth however most Norwich to Great Yarmouth services do not even pass through the station instead operating via Acle. As there is no lighting at the station services stop during daylight hours only. Previously until around 2019 the station was a Request Stop however all previous Greater Anglia request stops have been removed with all booked services calling at the station. Berney Arms station is managed by Greater Anglia which provide all passenger services at this station. This video was filmed in May 2025, after the station received its new platform surface.
