Watch and listen to answers three graduates gave when asked about their experience made in the Parker world after they successfully passed the Parker Graduate Program: Why choose Parker? When you are at the end of your graduation it’s not very easy to know exactly what you want to do with your career. The Parker Graduate program gives you a great opportunity to explore different roles in different areas and allows you to see all kinds of potential directions for your future career. How did the program shape your career? The graduate program is a lot about developing and challenging yourself and others. And I think that this is something that I really learnt from the first project. So this mindset is something that I bring with me from the graduate program: to constantly develop and challenging myself. Why would you recommend it? You are developing in many areas through both challenging but also very fun projects and at the same time you build up a network around Parker. So it’s a really good start of your working life. What key learning does the program cover? In the program you will have 4 different assignments of 6 months each, you will have an international experience, I had mine in Germany and it was really valuable for the understanding of the global company Parker is, and then we also have a lot of collaboration with other graduates in the region. So we meet every 6 months and learn a lot together. Any tips for someone looking to apply to the program? I think it is important to be yourself and to be curious, and to bring what makes you to be you as we want a diverse group of graduates in the graduate program. What did you enjoy most about the program? The highlight for me when I went out of my comfort zone. When I moved to another country, worked in a sales company with direct contact with our customers. I met a lot of interesting people both within and outside of Parker. Even though I don’t work in a sales team today, it gave me great understanding of what is important for our customers. How has your career path progressed since the program? I finished my graduate program this summer, so I have just started my permanent role as a product specialist at the Marketing department on our plant in Borås. Since I completed the program, I got into a leadership role right away, I have continued to develop as a leader and continued to learn about my weaknesses and my strengths, I’ve been promoted into new roles and I am now part of the Management team at my location. I also got the opportunity to take part in our career leadership program. In this program you have the chance to be in a globally cross-functional team with young talents just like yourself, all over Europe. You will work together on real projects, that is key for Parker’s success, and you will learn a lot about yourself, about leadership and how to work in global project teams.
