New Research Shows 90% of States Reported an Increase in Homeschooling | EWTN News Nightly

A recent study says that in the US several states have reached all-time high numbers of home-schooled students. The John Hopkins School of Education's Homeschool Research Lab says 90% of the states who shared their data reported an increase in home schooling from the previous year. The report also says that the total number of students is declining in part because of lower birth rates. But the number of home-schooling students is increasing and one researcher says the rise is no longer because of the COVID pandemic. A Senior Research Fellow at the John's Hopkins Institute for Education Policy, Angela Watson, joins to share whether anything in this report surprised her and what stood out the most. The study names 2 major trends, one is continued growth of homeschoolers, the other is rebounding growth. Watson takes us inside these numbers and what they mean. She discusses whether there are parts of the US where home schooling is more prevalent or more popular.
