Tuno Negro (2001) Alex Alonso (Silke) Review of the protoganist / masked female killer in this Spanish slasher flick set mainly in Salamanca. Opening recap followed by a summary of Alejandra (Alex) Alonso and how she meets the requirements of a great female villain: 1) Interesting backstory / setting - European university and history of the dark minstrels that serve as the villainess' inspiration 2) Entrance - the opening scene where the murderess stalks a student in Alcara 3) Memorable outfit - the all-black dark minstrel cloak and mask that conceals Alex's identity 4) Physical prowess - martial arts training and beating up several male characters 5) High intelligence - deception of her fellow students and setting herself up as a false target. She also solves a subplot mystery in the cathedral chapel 6) Great kill scenes - stalk / slash murders including a restroom attack, morgue massacre and burning another student alive in a courtyard 7) Acting / dialogue - delivery of the motto "ignorance kills" 8) Satisfying reveal / twist - clues to Alex as the murderer, leading to the final act reveal 9) Conclusion - final murders in the city cathedral and chaotic finale 10) Villainess victory - getting away with all the murders through a brilliantly executed scheme, and final reveal that Alex was an alias (Strong violence.
