A lot of people think sushi is "raw fish," but they couldn't be further from the truth. Sushi is actually all about the seasoned-to-perfect rice preparation with the addition of sugar, vinegar, and salt. There are maki rolls, which can have just avocado or cucumber and they are still considered sushi - and there's no fish! Then, there is something called "sashimi," which have no rice in sight. The beautifully presented fish could be raw pieces of salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, blue marlin, clam, mackerel, swordfish, yellowtail (ooooh, yellowtail!), trout, eel, abalone, squid, ark shell, sweetfish, scallops (my favorite!), sea bream, halfbeak, shrimp, flatfish, cockles, octopus, and crab. Oh nelly, sushi and sashimi will be my first meals post-pregnancy. hehe 😋Bon appétit!
