2025 Audi S5 Sportback POV test drive, spirited drive, highway drive, launch control, 0-60 acceleration, exhaust sound, review. The new A5 and S5 replace the old A4 and S4, but also the old A5 and S5, so basically, Audi consolidated those two models into one. The coupe and convertible are gone, meaning we have two body styles to choose from - Sportback (liftback) or a Avant (wagon). The current, B10 generation also got longer, wider, and taller, which translates into more interior space, and that’s noticeable - the car feels bigger on the inside. The new mode also sits on a modular PPC platform, which will underpin a lot of future Audi models powered by internal combustion engines, including cars like a Q5, A6, or a Q7. It’s not entirely an all new platform, it’s more of an evolution of the MLB evo, which actually was an evolution of the original MLB dating back to 2007. We have a fully aluminum multi-link front and back, combined with adaptive dampers as standard in the S5 and the car also little lower compared to the A5, around 20 mm or .8 inches and also the new generation received a new steering rack that’s mounted directly to the body for better feedback. Surprisingly, the North American S5s get a stripped down version of the V6 powertrain. What I mean by that, is it still is a 3-liter single turbo V6, but it’s not a mild-hybrid like in Europe. We’re not really missing out though, because the engine is making the same power. 362 hp, 406 lb-ft of torque, which translates to 0 to 60 in a little over 4 seconds. The motor is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, so the 8-speed torque converted unit provided by ZF is gone, and it puts down the power via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system with a torque-vectoring rear differential, and it also torque vectors up front using brakes. The pricing of the new S5 starts at $62,700 and tops at around $73,000 as tested.
