Homemade gun bore cleaning solvent. The items used in this video: 1 large empty glass pickle jar to store the following items after mixing: 8 oz Kerosene from the gas station pump, 8 oz. Dexron 6 Automatic Transmission Fluid, 8 oz. Pure Gum Spirits Turpentine and 8 oz. Regular Clear Nail Polish Remover/Acetone. (Even start off with a smaller batch of 4 equal 1 oz. parts for starters) Some say to use K1 clear Kerosene or pure Acetone etc. There are varying opinions and compounds used, but these were already previously purchased for other uses and therefore already available. This product works well especially when using older weapons and after firing cheaper ammo during target practice. Some of the off brand Russian and European ammo, or even older stock brand names in different calibers tend to leave more barrel residue. This 1 Quart of DIY (Do It Yourself) solvent will last way longer than the average $10.00 spray. The solvent, used in conjunction with a wire bore brush, cloth patches and spray oil does the job. It should be stored along with all other flammable materials, preferable in a metal cabinet and away from any flame or heat source. Clearly mark the jar as Poison etc. and ensure that it stays out of the reach of children.
