Kimchi Jjigae (김치찌개) translates as Kimchi Stew, a classic Korean dish that is loved by all. Join us at a Kimchi Jjigae restaurant and see what it's like. Recipes vary, but Kimchi Stew usually includes pork, tofu, kimchi, scallions and a spicy sauce made from Korean hot pepper paste (kochujang). Kimchi Jjigae is ubiquitous in Korea. You'll find it on the menu at many different restaurants and food courts, including cheap kimbap joints, bbq restaurants (as an after-dish) and places specialising in it, like the one in the video. It's normally served in an individual portion, but if you go to a specific Kimchi Jjigae restaurant you'll likely be served sharing style, the size of the dish dependent on the number of people. It comes with rice, and if you're lucky maybe some lettuce leaves for wrapping (ssam/쌈). It costs around 5,000₩ per person in cheaper places, and up to around 9,000₩ per person at a specialist restaurant like in the video.
