When people think about countries in the world where the LGBTQ2S+ community is recognized and supported - Canada is often somewhere at the top of that list. Canada's Prime Ministers march in Pride Parades - the Canadian Military recognizes chosen names for trans service members and allows same-sex couples to live openly on-base - and same-sex marriages have been recognized across the country for over fifteen years! Canada is only as open as it is today because of the hard work - and the battles won by LGBTQ2S+ Canadians - to pave the way for the rights and recognitions that exist today. On June 27th, 2020 - the world is coming together to celebrate World Pride Day - and we think it's important to share the stories of LGBTQ2S+ Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast to recognize where we've come from - and where we still have left to go! Produced by Gerrit Wesselink. Filmed and Edited by Jon Wesselink. Black Lives Matter.
