Solarmeter's Model 8.0 is an affordable, precision instrument specifically designed for extremely accurate instantaneous germicidal lamp intensity and aging tests, eyewear UV block comparisons, and germicidal lamp fixture light leak testing. Typical end users include manufacturers of UVC lamps and sterilization cabinets, air or water purification technicians, and food processors using UVC light for germ control. The NIST traceable 8.0 features an irradiation range of 0-1999 microwatts per cm squared UVC and response of 254 nanometers (+/-8) UVC, with resolution of 1 microwatt per cm squared and extremely high accuracy of +/-10%. The sensor is a silicon carbide photodiode packaged in a hermetically sealed UV glass window cap. An interference filter blocks UV above 280 nanometers. This handheld model’s rugged plastic case is palm-sized for effortless portability, measuring a compact 4.2” long x 2.4” wide x 0.9” deep and weighing only 4.5 ounces, including the 9V battery.
