Room tour of a Club Room of the Crowne Plaza Athens The hotel is located in Athens a short 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from the underground station Megaro Moussikis at the line from / to the airport The hotel has seven floors. The rooms are up to the sixth floor with the club floor being on level 6 while restaurant and rooftop pool are on level 7. The lobby is over two floors but a little bit dark without much daylight. There are several armchairs, sofas and table and a bar. The check-in desks are on the right side. Usually, two check-in desks are occupied. The elevators to the floor are also to the right-hand side. The fitness-centre is in the basement. It is small with two treadmills, weights and also comes with sauna. It does not offer daylight. It is available 24/7. The pool is on the rooftop and available from 11:00 to 20:00. It is very small and more a slightly larger bath than a lap pool. Sunchairs are available. Quite often very busy and thus not really an reason to book the hotel. Due to my IHG One Rewards Diamond Status with club pass I was upgraded to a club room on the sixth floor. It came with small balcony and came in a classic yet slightly outdated design. Nevertheless, somehow cozy. The room had a medium sized bathroom with bath, sink, bidet and toilet. The area next to the sink had enough space to store all utensils. Two large and medium sized towels were provided. Water pressure was okay, though the glass panel at the bath was a bit too short. The closet was large and had the safe. An espresso machine with Illy capsules was available. Two water bottles were also provided and a fruit plate as welcome amenity. The room had also a desk with power outlets and USB charging plugs. Additional sockets were available at the bedside tables / nightstands. As mentioned more of a classic design using a dark brown colour scheme. The room was clean and showed only a little bit of wear. This was not the case of the bathroom, which seems to be renovated, but the shower was leaking and not in the best condition. A club lounge is available to those with access or book Club Rooms. It is on the sixth floor and required the keycard to enter. It has a classic design and is more of the small side. Al fresco seating on a balcony is available. It is open from 07:00 to 22:00. Soft drinks and tea and coffee are available throughout the day. In the afternoon small salty and sweet bites (e.g. small cakes, sandwiches, etc) are available as well as alcoholic beverages. There is no service, but a lounge attendant occasionally clears used plates and restocks the buffet. In the evening between 17:30 and 20:00 is evening reception. The food options are mediocre (cheese, small pizza style bites, bifteki, bread, vegetable, olives). Breakfast is served buffet style in the rooftop restaurant. It comes with bread, cheese, salami and ham and also warm options like scrambled eggs, vegetables and hashed brown. In additions there are fruits and cereals available. Freshly pressed orange juices is also offered. Tea and coffee are served by staff. Staff is attentive and used plates are cleared frequently. A late check out was offered during check-in. Overall, a nice though not always cheap option. The advantage is the central location of the hotel. But given that the InterContinental is not always much more expensive, it is not always the best option if you also hold Ambassador status.
