It's great to see cooperation between two college disciplines. This week the students from Chris Sims' Waterfowl/Ecology class came over to the College of Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources. Graduate students of Doug Osborne's Wildlife Management research program have spent the last couple of months collecting ducks to put bands on their legs and transmitters on their backs to monitor the birds' migration patterns. Today the biology students got hands-on practical experience with live mallard ducks. The biology students were allowed to band and attach transmitters to waterfowl. Those birds were returned to the Texarkana area, where a technician team had captured them.
