❣ We rescued Kindness! ❣ Thanks to your incredible support and generosity, Jill Robinson and our rescue team freed Kindness from 18 years in a cage and brought her safe home to sanctuary. It was a grey, wet, humid day, one which made Jill worry; "I was watching the rain bucketing down on the way and thought, oh no, it's going to make the rescue a little bit difficult, it's going to be a bit dangerous for the team because the floor's going to be slippy," she said. "But then I thought, this bear has spent maybe six and a half thousand days here in this cage without any free access to the great outdoors, and probably in the heat of the summer would've loved to feel the rain on her back." After the team had Kindness out of her cage and outside, our vets Rachel and Thai gave her an initial health check to make sure she was fit enough to travel and that there were no issues that needed immediate attention. Jill clipped her claws which had grown so much they were curling back into her paws. The rescue of Kindness signals the end of bear bile farming in the province of Ha Nam. This is another province in Vietnam that is now bear bile farm free - forever. Animals Asia is the Vietnam government's chosen partner for ending bear bile farming in the country, and we are working closely with them and the Forest Protection Department to encourage farmers and bear owners to release their bears into our care.
