I visited Suriname and was pleasantly surprised by the Hindu temples and culture. Every Hindu household has a designated worship area, and there are many temples/mandirs in every city. People still watch Hindi movies and listen to Hindi songs, though they speak a mixed version of Hindi. The land is very fertile with plenty of water sources. In the Nickerie district, there are vast rice farms, and rice is one of the major export commodities, with several rice mills in the area. The people are very friendly
