This video is both, a tutorial on how to operate the mechanics of the legendary Canon FD lenses from the 1970s and my report on how it feels to shoot a 50 year old vintage lens, the Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 S.S.C., on the modern 2025 Hasselblad X2D II. Of course I show also sample images from a recent shooting with my photo model Stephanie. And oh my gosh, these images turned out to be beautiful. The Canon FD 85mm is likely the best portrait lens I ever shot on my Hasselblad X2D II. And once you understand the mechanics and handling of these lenses the photographic workflow becomes very smooth. The image circle of the Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 S.S.C. is large enough to provide full coverage of the medium format 100MP sensor in the X2D II.
