NYPD Officer Opens Fire on Armed Suspect Trying to Flee

(Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Bronx, NY — On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 10:16 p.m., Sergeant Nicholas Novak, Police Officer Santiago, and additional officers assigned to the 49th Precinct, responded to 1015 East Gun Hill Road, Bronx, in an attempt to apprehend 18-year-old Antonio Morales who was wanted for a gunpoint robbery. Sergeant Novak knocked on the door of Morales' apartment and made verbal contact with him, however, Morales claimed to be someone else and refused to open the door. Sergeant Novak secured the door with his handcuffs and continued to speak with Morales through the door. Shortly thereafter, Morales discharged at least five rounds from a firearm inside of his apartment. Morales then forced the apartment door open and charged into the hallway in an attempt to flee the location. While he fled, a struggle between Sergeant Novak and Morales ensued during which time Morales shoved Sergeant Novak to the ground causing a serious injury to his head. Following the struggle, Morales continued to flee and encountered Officer Santiago at the end of the hallway. Officer Santiago then discharged two rounds from her service firearm, striking Morales. Morales was taken into custody and transported via ambulance to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi where he was treated for his injuries. Morales' firearm was recovered at the scene of the incident during this investigation.
