The prosecution in the Pehlu Khan case is confident of a favourable verdict in the 2017 mob lynching case, which is to be pronounced on Wednesday. "We expect life imprisonment for seven accused in Pehlu Khan mob lynching case," says Pehlu Khan's lawyer. The court of Additional District Judge, Sarita Swami, will pronounce the verdict in the Pehlu Khan mob lynching case. All the accused in the case, including two minors, are currently out of jail. The verdict today will be on seven out of the nine accused. Earlier, six people, who were previously named as accused in the case, were given clean chit based on mobile phone records and the statement of the caretaker of a cow shelter. Speaking to India Today TV, Qasim Khan, the lawyer of Pehlu Khan and his family in the mob lynching case, said that he expected life imprisonment for the seven accused in the case. "There was political pressure in the case. We expect life imprisonment for the seven accused on whom the verdict will be pronounced today," he said. Members of the Mewat Kisan Panchayat have been pursuing the case closely. They arrived at the court today ahead of the verdict. Maulana Hanif told India Today, "I have been pursuing the case closely. I was there when the postmortem of Pehlu Khan happened. We are expecting stringent punishment for the killers of Pehlu Khan so that others get the message." Sharif manager and member of the Mewat Kisan Panchayat, mentioned that six of the accused in the case were let off, who were earlier booked on the basis of parcha statement.
