Built in 1887, the Old Dairy Farm Staff Quarters in Pokfulam was one of the chosen government projects to go through a revitatilization and just recently this year in 2022. it became opened to the public. It is currently called The Pokfulam Farm, and there are now free guided tours and also paid tours given by the Pok Fu Lam Villagers, who live across the street. The Pokfulam Farm is located inside the Vocational Training Council Complex where the T Hotel is located and is very accessible by the numerous buses and minibuses that stop right in front of it. The Dairy Farm Company started in 1886 with an objection to lower the cost of milk in Hong Kong by more than half and to also provide safe, non contaminated milk to the people of Hong Kong. Prior to that, the cattle in Hong Kong was not really used for milk production and therefore, the founder of the Dairy Farm Company actually imported 80 cows from his home in Scotland over to Hong Kong! As dairy wasn't in our diet since the start, it's also why there's a lot of us in Hong Kong who are lactose intolerant. My dad is lactose intolerant, but since I started drinking milk from a young age, I can tolerant it better than him, but I can't consume anything tooo creamy. Check out the video for more details.
