FULL-ALBUM Reactions, Lessons & More 👉 / lowenduniversity --------------------------------------------------- ➡️ This was certainly one of the hardest songs to analyze on a blind listen. I haven't thought about The Mars Volta in a very long time, and remember the few songs I once heard being a lot to take in. "Drunkship of Lanterns" picks right up where my first impressions left off with over 7 minutes of abstract soundscapes and jarring musical curveballs. Flea's musicianship is on full display here, and I really loved hearing him through a different lens as he tied the whole the song together. I discuss how some of his "Flea-isms" still manage to poke through, his approach when playing bass fills, the music theory behind the dissonance throughout the track, and much more. I still don't know what to think of this band. 😳 --------------------------------------------------- 0:00 Intro 1:25 Reaction / Analysis 18:35 Final Thoughts --------------------------------------------------- 📺 MORE REACTIONS: ▶️ TOOL: • First Listen to TOOL - "Pneuma" | Bas... ▶️ PORCUPINE TREE: • Breaking Down the GENIUS of Porcupine... ▶️ KARNIVOOL: • KARNIVOOL Have Mastered Songwriting! ... --------------------------------------------------- Mark Michell is an internationally-touring and recording bass player known for his work with Scale the Summit, Tony MacAlpine, Tetrafusion, Watermox, and more.
